Description

Product Name: W.H.Bartlett-Entrance to the shop Black Sea
W. H. Bartlett is the artist name in the left bottom corner of all four prints; his images inspired many engravers. I am selling all four of my prints, which were elaborately custom-framed at one time. William Henry Bartlett was born in London in 1809. Each print has a pink border, with a light green soft velvety fabric mat, framed in light gold-silver colored wood frames. This print is entitled Entrance to the Black Sea (From the Giants Grave) in Turkey, with the engraver's name S. Bradshaw in the right bottom corner, reportedly published in “Beauties of the Bosphorus” in 1838. There is a number 32 just below the print (see last photo). The print is 6.25 x 8 inches. Frame has some nicks and the fabric shows shadows and some mild indents (see photos). Total size is 14 x 15 inches. Backing paper has one minor tear. This image is beautifully detailed—the boats and shop the sea in the distance, with the two brightly dressed shepherds in the foreground.
