Description

Product Name: CROSS FRAMED ARTIST SIGNED shop IRELAND
Brigid's crosses are associated with Brigid of Kildare, one of the patron saints of Ireland. The crosses are traditionally made in shop Ireland on St Brigid's feast day, 1 February, which was formerly celebrated as a pagan festival (Imbolc) marking the beginning of spring. Many rituals are associated with the making of the crosses. Traditionally they were set over doorways and windows to protect the home from any kind of harm. It is a traditional Irish story, that while teaching a dying old man about Christianity, St. Brigid made a cross from rushes in order to explain the crucifixion and the message of salvation. This was the first St Brigids Cross. St Brigid Crosses were hung in stables and houses to bring protection to the family and animals. Even to this day similar crosses are made of rushes and placed in the rafters of a dwelling to protect from harm SIGNED BY ARTIST. I INCLUDED A SHOT OF ONE UP FOR AUCTION ON A LIVE AUCTION SITE.
