THIS CAN BE USED ON TOP OF A TABLE OR PLACED ON THE FLOOR. Therefore, you must purchase a three way bulb if you want more lighting. It will also work with a single lite bulb, but you have to turn the switch three times for the bulb to lite up. THE LIGHTING IS A 3 WAY LIGHTING SYSTEM. Please note that the switch knob isn't shown in the picture, one has been purchased and Installed so one can turn the switch properly.
