I have bought and sold many plants and most of the time everything is all good, especially when precautions are taken. 1. use lightweight soil (perlite, bark shop aroid mix/ leca/ hydroponic have all been pretty good for me). 2. Do everything to avoid root rot- keep soil on the dry side especially when you're getting it acclimated. 3. Lots of light. More light = more variegation and faster growth. 4. Be patient. It takes awhile for the new leaf to come in.
