Up for your consideration is this authentic, complete set of Pleasant Company 1990 American Girl Samantha's Summer Middy Dress with Tam Outfit. It consists of a shipshape middy white dress trimmed in black braid with an anchor, a crest, and stars on the back of the collar, plus a tam and a shiny brass bo's'n's whistle. A pamphlet "Samantha's Summer Story", copyright 1988, instructions, and an AGC hanger are also included. The outfit is in excellent condition in the original garment bag (sticker shop was removed and the 1990 label in the dress is faded). DRESS FORM IS NOT INCLUDED. Besides being well made and very appealing, the collectibility of this item is probably most related to the fact that in 1998 Pleasant Company was sold to Mattel, Inc. Like anything that is no longer made or available, the items produced by Pleasant Company rather than Mattel are very sought after by serious collectors, and therefore tend to be a great investment.
