Description

Product Name: Victorian shop W.L. Douglas Lace Up Ladies Boots
Very old Victorian W.L. Douglas Lace Up Ladies Boots. (100+ years old) 1876 William Lewis Douglas, who became Governor of Massachusetts, borrowed $875 in order to open his own shoe factory. One critical shop decision he made in establishing the business was that he would sell the shoes he manufactured through his own line of retail outlets, rather than shipping them to other retailers or intermediaries. His business grew rapidly! There is a stamp inside on leather, as shown in one picture. I think the laces are even original. In using a regular ruler, they measure approx10-10-1/2" long heel to toe, 10-1/4" tall from heel to boot top. Wonder who wore these back in the day!.
