Product code: Japanese Woodblock Print by Sadanobu Hasegawa III shop
Up for sale is this very neat woodblock print, "Shibaraku (Wait A Minute!)," by Sadanobu Hasegawa III. Sadanobu was a very distinguished midcentury printmaker descended from a long line of printmakers. This print depicts Shibaraku, one of the most well-known Kabuki plays. I believe it dates to the 1950s. Print appears to be original to the 1950s as well. It really presents a nice slice of Japanese life and would make an excellent addition at any ukiyo-e collection. Print is attached to the original publisher's matting (at top left and top-right corners) and includes the publisher's description. The print is in excellent condition. Very minor toning. Otherwise, no issues. Matting shows some mat burn of the image, but does not affect display. Very small crease in the lower right corner of the matting (print unaffected). Print measures approximately 17.75 inches high x 11.5 inches wide shop. Matting measures approximately 19 inches tall x 13 inches wide.
